State Tournament

Tomorrow morning, 8:00 AM I will board a bus headed on a 6 hour journey down to Fresno, CA where my Volleyball team will compete in the STATE TOURNAMENT!!!  My team in the Final 8 in the state.  Shasta is the little, obscure team from NorCal comming up against SoCal beach-volleyball girls...it'll be fun to see how we do.  I'm so proud of my team.

Switchfoot Concert

I promised  a few pictures of that Switchfoot concert.

Bre & I were stoked to find the place after getting a bit lost and arriving an hour late (don't worry, though, we only missed the intro bands)

It was so cool to see them up close!  Here's Jon.

InterVarsity Fall Conference

I want to post up some pics of the Fall Retreat I went to two weekends ago.  It was a spontaneous opportunity and a wonderful blessing to join all of the Inter-Varsity groups from 4 campuses in CA northstate.  It was another suprise to find that our conference was being held at the YWAM base up here in Chico, seeing as I plan to go with YWAM next semester.  Even more amazing was the fact that our speaker, one of the Inter-Varsity directors in CA is from Taiwan!!  How cool is that.

I was richly blessed by my weekend there...

YWAM Chico took over an old hotel that was a getaway for Celebs back in the day...isn't it grand-looking with all the flags.

October (136)

I hear the Celebs were attracted by the presence of sulfur springs here in the hills of northern Cali...imagine these baths filled with steaming water that reaks of rotten-egg!  (you could still smell it)

October (114)

We had fun taking rides in the old-fashioned elevator :)

October (126)

During a break inbetween sessions, my friend and I snuck in to the LODGE where the DTS students live and interrogated them about there YWAM experience...we ended up making a couple of friends too! :)  (Notice the 2 crosses at the peak in the background--I hiked up there!)

October (103)

I had a wonderful time with Naomi, an MK from Thailand and a mutual friend...although we've only met a couple of times, we found ourselves communicating almost without words...an MK thing I guess!

October (131)

I got my little "Mandarin-speaking fix" chatting it up with some girls from UC Merced & also the ESL students at the base.

October (124)

The token four of us from Shasta College were small in number, among the 120+ students at the conference, yet big in vigor as we proudly raise up our fearless staff-leader, Annie (who spent a year in China, by the way!).

October (123)

Kinda out of place, but just for kicks, my friend's cat was actually trying to nurse my white chocolate mocah, no joke!  Unable to get a suction going, she found some gratification in devouring my straw!

Yaks cat

That's all!  More comming soon from the SWITCHFOOT concert!!

It's been a good weekend...

I was practically going crazy at the prospects of having a WHOLE WEEKEND!  Every weekend 'till now has been bombarded by volleyball away-games, retreats, and parties...definatley not bad things, but they take me away from good 'ol Redding. Finally, a weekend to chill & have a blast with friends!

On Friday night, the fun began when Katie pulled her famous delacy out of the oven.  Monkey Brains!

Monkey Brains!

After a lazy Saturday morning, we took a hike up to the waterfalls @ Whiskeytown lake.  A random hiker volunteered to take a group picture and had us smile by saying "Naturrrree" in unison.

Katie & I just can't help being glamorous...even on hikes...it just comes naturrrrrally!

hard-core hikers

I drew much amusement from making my friends taste the sweet and sour plums from Taiwan...aparently not such a favorite with your average red-blooded American.  David described it as "Sweet, sour, salty & disgusting!"

On Saturday we celebrated Kim's 19th birthday...by enthroning her in this plush green arm chair.

Kim the Birthday Queen is 19!

It's been a good one.  And now, back to school & volleyball games.
